Frequently Asked Questions

How can I help?

Please see our form at the bottom of this page. We’ll get in touch with how you can help as soon as we can!

Do you accept donations of PPE ?

Yes! That’s one of our goals during this pandemic. We have partners that can pick-up and deliver!

If you have a type of food or PPE donation, please reach out asap by filling out the form at the bottom of the page.

Do you accept monetary donations?

Yes! We are accepting donations through Stripe and Paypal, please click on the navigation that says Donate!

Please note:

We are a humanitarian organization, filed as a charitable contribution S-Corp.

We’ll be applying for 501(c)(3) status in the coming months, as you may be familiar it is a lengthy process. As of right now we cannot offer tax exemptions. However if you’ve provided a personal email along with your contribution, you’ll receive a receipt, newsletter updates on the organization to see where your donation is going, and if we’re able to offer retro-active tax exemptions when we roll into a 501(c)(3) you’ll be notified.

How do donations support relief?

We’re glad you asked! Donations will be helping in a variety of ways.

Our organization operates between the healthcare personnel and NYC organizations creating PPE, which is almost exclusively volunteer based. We’re hoping to receive enough donations to not only have a Relief Fund that will support and sustain grass root efforts.

Our relief fund covers:

  • PPE expenses associated with our partner organizations, who do not have the means of securing donations, such as: material costs, disinfectant costs, and transportation costs.

  • Monetary stipends to PPE fabrication + transportation volunteers who have lost their jobs as a result of COVID-19.

  • Maintaining The Lions Share NYC and keeping up and operational. We’re all about transparency and this bullet point is an honest one, as well as the lowest margin of our fund. The founder and staff have all dedicated volunteering their time. However, there are still costs associated with running a business (website, processing donations, etc.)

How are you protecting the health of your volunteers?

We’ve created guidelines for our volunteers, reviewed and given approval by our advisory team working in the scientific and medical fields. We’re also adopting and enforcing all safety guidelines provided by the CDC.

We’re aiming to have the transportation partnerships operate as non-contact as possible during pick-ups and drop-offs, limiting the amount of physical interactions between people.

Volunteering? Reporting a need? Please read to the bottom.

To volunteer

Currently we are looking for people to increase our list of contacts in hospitals and suppliers / manufacturers, as well as couriers.

Please list your strengths that you can contribute, and how many hours a week you can / what days.

Such strengths may include, but are not limited to: sewing, medical training, teaching background, graphic design, event coordination, project management, etc.

Volunteer for deliveries

In addition to the questions above, please also list:

  • your neighborhood

  • methods of transportation at your disposal

    • Public transportation does not count. We cannot condone our volunteers to use public transportation during this pandemic. To maintain social distancing you must bike, walk, skateboard, motorcycle, revel, etc. as a primary form of transportation.
